Unspoken Health Problems Indian Moms Hide (And How to Catch Them Early)
Share
Our moms do everything : cook, clean, work, care, love and rarely rest. But here’s what they don’t do: tell you when something hurts. Indian moms have the highest pain tolerance and the lowest tendency to admit it.
So what signs should you watch for?
Sneaky Symptoms to Watch:
- She’s more tired than usual but instead blames it on “too much work”
- Complains of body aches but refuses pain meds
- Breathes a bit heavier climbing stairs
- Keeps saying “I feel hot” but won’t check her temperature
- Getting dizzy, but laughs it off as nothing
- Headaches or eye strain she blames on “just screen time”
- Standing too long and needing to sit down more frequently
- Sleeplessness or waking up unusually tired
How You Can Support Her (Quietly):
- Keep a digital thermometer and pulse oximeter easily accessible
- Gently suggest “Let’s both check!” turn it into a little ritual
- Place a heating pad where she sits most. She’ll never ask for one, but she’ll use it daily
- Encourage her to drink more water or add electrolyte drinks subtly to meals
- Leave reminder notes or sweet messages to rest , she’ll appreciate the gesture without feeling babied
- Set quiet moments for her to relax such as a tea break, a face massage, or foot soak can do wonders
Real Talk :)
Sometimes the best care is silent. It’s checking on her without making her feel like a patient.
Caring for your mom isn’t about making her feel fragile but instead it’s about giving her the same quiet strength she’s always given you. She may not say it, but her health matters. She’s the pillar of the home and it's important to keep that pillar strong.
Moms hide their pain. But her health is your responsibility too.
